September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

It is every parent's worst nightmare, and something we probably don't even like to discuss or think about. As a mother, making sure my child is safe is my biggest priority. But when something that we as parents cannot control, like childhood cancer, occurs, we need to be well informed in order to understand and help our children better. Every year, more than 9,000 children are diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is the leading cause of death among children. Children tend to develop different types of cancer than adults.
Cancer, altogether is a disease that is affecting so many people. It not only affects those that suffer from the disease, it also affects the lives of all the loved ones that are part of that person's life. This month is National Childhood Cancer awareness Month, next month (October) is breast Cancer awareness month. It is very important that we become educated and aware that Cancer is a reality of life, and that it can happen to any of us. We tend to only take notice when it happens to someone we love, but it's important to understand that getting involved in any way yo can, will also create awareness. Awareness saves lives.
